WCC 1972 title

 Reykjavik, Iceland / August 6, 1972 / Game #11

On game 11, Boris Spassky narrowed the gap to 6 1/2 - 4 1/2, winning against Bobby Fischer’s poison Pawn variation in a Najdorf Sicilian. Fischer failed to find a good plan against Spassky’s 14. Nb1 innovation and was crushed. With this victory, the match comes alive again and still promises a very interesting tournament final. Now Bobby Fischer needs six points to win the world championship while Boris Spassky should make 6½ points to retain the world title.
