I beg to differ. The shortest game ever played was in fact a two move Checkmate won by black. Observe below:

1. g4 e5
2. f3 Qh4++

As you can see, this is the shortest Checkmate that is possible in the game of Chess.

Of course a shortest mate can be performed in two moves as you wrote.

We do not have any record of an actual game played with a final result of mate in two.
