Hello,

I like to play Chess online and sometimes I play with a friend at home. It has happened to me that while playing Chess online, some people (playing white) start a game with the following moves: 1. e4 e5 2. c4.
 
To me, this is a very strange way to start a game because just a few people do it. Needles to say, I do not know this opening and I move whatever I like. Most of the times I lose many games playing against this particular opening.

What is the next move to follow in this opening, if any? Do these sequence moves have an opening name?

The name of this opening is Bavarian Gambit and it can be found in our openings page under the 'B' openings section. The initial Bavarian Gambit moves are: 1. e4 e5 2. c4 d5.

When playing black and after 1. e4 e5 2. c4, the next move to follow is 2. ... d5 because you have to challenge white in the center, even with a sacrifice move. See picture:
