Dear viewer,

Gens una sumus:

Gens......Family, Race, or People
una........one
sumus....we are

These are Latin for "We are One Family, or We are One Race, or We are One People."

Federation Internationale Des Echecs, known as FIDE  from its French acronym, is the World Chess Federation. FIDE was founded in Paris, France on July 20, 1924 and adopted the phrase "Gens una Sumus" as its motto.

FIDE has a membership of 161 countries and the current President is Mr. Kirsan Nikolayevich Ilyumzhinov since 1995 who is also President of Kalmykia, an autonomous Republic in Russia.
