The Wijk aan Zee Chess event which has taken place since 1938, has been renamed to "The 73rd Tata Steel Chess Tournament." It takes place on Friday, Jan. 14th to Sunday, Jan. 30th, 2011 in the traditional "De Moriaan" venue in Wijk aan Zee, a small town on the coast of the North Sea in the municipality of Beverwijk in the province of North Holland of the Netherlands. Participants in this event included World number one Magnus Carlsen (winner of the last event), current World Champion Viswanathan Anand, Vladimir Kramnik, Levon Aronian, Alexander Grischuk, Hikaru Nakamura, Anish Giri, Alexei Shirov, and Ruslan Ponomariov, among others. GM Veselin Topalov did not participate.
