FIDE World Championship  •  Reykjavik, Iceland
August 6, 1972 / Game 11

On game 11, Spassky narrowed the gap to 6 1/2 - 4 1/2, winning against Fischer's poison Pawn variation in a Najdorf Sicilian. Fischer failed to find a good plan against Spassky's 14.Nb1 innovation and was crushed. With this victory, the match comes alive again and still promises a very interesting Tournament final.  Now Fischer needs six points to win the Championship while Spassky should make 6½ points to retain the world title.
