FIDE World Championship  •  Reykjavik, Iceland
July 16/17, 1972 / Game 3

FIDE President Max Euwe, ratified Spassky's victory in the game two and warns Fischer that a failure to show up for the third and fourth game, the match will be over and Spassky will retain the Championship.  After an international uproar that included a rare intervention from the US Department of State by Henry Kissinger, Bobby Fischer accedes to continue the match 2 hours before the time set for the 3rd game.  Fischer wins in 41 moves.
