FIDE World Championship  •  Reykjavik, Iceland
July 25/26, 1972 / Game 7

World Champion Boris Spassky in an attempt to even up the point deficit against the candidate Bobby Fischer, starts this game with 1. e4 which is very unusual from him. Fischer, that showed up 4 minutes late, replies with a similar agressive move moving his Queen's Bishop Pawn to squares ahead (1. ... c5) turning into a Sicilian Defense game. This game ended in draw (perpetual check) even though Fischer had a 2 Pawn advantage.
