New York, 1987

Josh Waitzkin started playing Chess when he was six. Later, he was “discovered” by Bruce Pandolfini while playing Chess in a NY City park. At the age of eleven, he drew a game with World Champion Garry Kasparov in a simultaneous exhibition.  At 13, Josh earned the title of National Master. "Searching for Bobby Fischer" is based on the true life story of Josh Waitzkin. In the following game, Josh Waitzkin was only ten years old when he played E. Frumkin, being the first Chess Master he ever beat.
