Classical World Chess Championship, Sept. 25 - Oct. 18, 2004

The World Chess Championship between Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Leko was held at the Centro Dannemann in Brissago, Switzerland from September 25 to October 18, 2004. A total of 14 games were played under classical time controls. Kramnik defended the title he won from Garry Kasparov in 2000 against the Hungarian Leko, who qualified at the Dortmund Candidates in the year 2002.  With a final result of 7 to 7 points, Vladimir Kramnik as title holder remains the World Champion.
