World Champion Viswanathan Anand defends his title against Russian Vladimir Kramnik in a twelve game match. Kramnik has been granted a rematch after losing his title to Anand at the World Chess Championship 2007 in Mexico City. Anand retained the world Chess championship crown after drawing with Kramnik in the 11th game with a final score of 61/2 to 4 1/2. The prize money was 1.5 Million Euros.
