The FIDE World Chess Championship took place in Sofia, Bulgaria between World Champion Viswanathan Anand and Veselin Topalov. This match had the same format as in 2006 and 2008 previous Championships with twelve games including the tie-breaks. The time control allotted for the first 40 moves will be 120 minutes, 60 minutes for the next twenty moves, and for the rest of game will be 15 minutes with an addition of 30 seconds per move after move 61th has been played.  Anand beats Topalov by a 6½  -  5½ final score to remain the undisputed world champion.
