1. e4 e5  2. Nf3 Nc6  3. Bc4 Bc5  4. b4

When black responds with 1 ... e5, it is called an Open Game and thus, making the Evans Gambit Opening fall into this category.  As in most Gambits, white gives up an early Pawn in exchange for development and setting up an ideal Pawn center.
