1. d4 Nf6,  2. c4 g6,  3. Nc3 d5

The Gruenfeld Defense, from the Indian Games, tends to be highly transpositional and involves the Fianchetto of either Bishop at g7 or b7.  The black Pawn at d5 prevents white from establishing the ideal Pawn center by playing e4.
