The FIDE World Chess Championship between Vladimir Kramnik and Peter Leko was held at the Centro Dannemann in Brissago, Switzerland from September 25 to October 18, 2004. Kramnik defended the title he won from Gary Kasparov in 2000 against the Hungarian Leko, who qualified at the Dortmund Candidates in the year 2002.
